All About Our Rice Oil

What is Tophé Rice Bran Oil?

Wait. Oil from rice?  You bet!

We all know the difference between brown rice and white rice -- brown rice has the bran attached to the rice grain, whereas with white rice, the bran is removed. The bran actually contains about 18% oil. It is from this bran that we extract out our wonderful Tophé® Rice Bran Oil.

How to use Tophe Rice Bran Oil

Tophé Rice Bran Oil is a neutral vegetable oil with many uses in the kitchen.

The oil's characteristics lend itself to a wide variety of uses. The oil has no flavor, and does not have an oily 'mouth feel'.  Consequently, foods cooked in Tophé Rice Oil don't taste greasy.  While great with high heat due to it's very high smoke point, Tophé Rice Oil works wonderfully as a salad dressing as it emulsifies well, and in baking applications like brownies and instead of Pam for preventing sticking.

Besides being the best oil for cooking, deep frying, sautéing, and grilling, Tophé Rice Bran Oil is the secret to tempura!

The finest restaurants in the US and Japan will only use rice oil for deep frying delicate foods like tempura. Why? Because Tophé Rice Oil doesn't have an oily "mouth-feel", meaning it doesn't taste or feel oily in the mouth, so your tempura, fries, chips, fish etc. tastes crisp, not oily!

Besides a very high smoke-point (the temperature at which oils start to smoke and break down), Tophé® Rice Bran Oil is naturally rich in the anti-oxidants Vitamin E and gamma-oryzanol. Gamma-oryzanol gets it's name from the Latin name of rice, Oriza sativa. Both have been shown to lower blood cholesterol and open clogged arteries in laboratory research*.
